Janna is on the eve of her thirtieth birthday. She has her own business in downtown Philadelphia and a kind, intelligent boyfriend. By all accounts she should be content, yet something is missing in her life. She experiences a sexual awakening when she befriends a young gay couple and stumbles upon them making love. Her voyeuristic involvement in their relationship -- first without their knowledge, then with it -- irrevocably changes the courses of all three of their lives. Trio Sonata poignantly illustrates the intricate relationship between the three central characters. It also paints a portrait of the intimate bond between the young men -- both before and after they meet Janna -- that is intensely erotic and psychologically complex.
